Trauma Therapy for Teens
Trauma can affect teens in ways that are not always immediately visible. Some teens become anxious, emotionally reactive, or constantly on edge, while others withdraw, shut down, disconnect from relationships, or struggle to feel safe in their daily lives. Trauma may impact self-esteem, trust, emotional regulation, sleep, concentration, relationships, and a teen’s overall sense of stability and well-being.
Teens may be carrying the effects of difficult experiences such as family conflict, loss, bullying, medical experiences, divorce, accidents, community violence, relational wounds, or overwhelming life events. Even when experiences happened in the past, the nervous system can continue responding as though the stress is still present.
My Approach
I offer somatic, trauma-informed, and identity-affirming therapy for teens navigating the impacts of trauma, chronic stress, and emotional overwhelm. My approach focuses on helping teens feel emotionally safe, supported, and more connected to themselves and their bodies.
Through somatic therapy, mindfulness, relational support, and nervous system regulation work, teens can begin to better understand their emotional responses, build resilience, and develop healthier ways of coping with stress, fear, and difficult experiences.
Therapy is not about forcing teens to relive painful experiences before they are ready. Instead, the process moves at a pace that feels supportive, collaborative, and grounded in safety and trust.
